A History of Innovation

It’s no secret that Tritek is the most creative engineering, problem solving, mail technology developing company in the mailing industry. Tritek is a 40 year old company specializing in the design, development, and manufacturing of mail sorting equipment, OCR readers, document imaging and processing equipment, barcode readers, opening and extraction equipment, and mail processing software including vote by mail envelope verification.

1984

Tritek is founded with express purpose of designing reliable and robust equipment.

1988

Tritek releases the 88-5 high speed letter sorter.

1991

Tritek releases the 91-5 high speed flat mail sorter.

1995

Working with Lockheed Martin, Tritek licenses 10,000 OCR readers to the US Postal Service.

2000

Tritek develops the Tritek Rule Editor Software, allowing users to create their own sort plans and process generically addressed mail.

2005

Tritek combines the technology of the 88-5 and the 91-5 to create the Tritek M letter and flat sorter.

2006

Tritek designs the Tritek Correct Elect mail sorter for use in vote by mail automation for counties across the country.

2009

Tritek integrates in-line scales and labelers in the 88-5, 91-5 and Tritek M .

2010

Tritek releases a parcel processing unit, the desktop-sized Ace.

2012

Tritek develops a high-speed induction feeder, bringing mixed mail processing speeds up to 30,000 pieces per hour.

2016

Tritek develops the OASIS, an all-in-one mail and document scanning solution.

2019

Tritek releases the Tritek Parcel Sorter to meet the worlds growing need to handle large volumes of packages.

2020

Tritek continued to provide support throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and met the growing demand for mail and parcel automation.

Tritek celebrates its 40th anniversary!

Meet Our CEO 

Jim Malatesta is a seasoned business leader and inventor with a diverse background in engineering, technology, and entrepreneurship. He attended the University of Delaware, developing a solid foundation in micro-computers and electro-mechanical engineering. As an employee at the Dupont corporation, Jim was involved in the development of a laser X-ray scanner interface to a mini computer. He left Dupont to further his experience at Leigh Instruments in Ontario, Canada, where he received specialized training in CCL Logic and OCR recognition using a Sperry U77 computer which enabled him to design cutting-edge imaging equipment that would continue to be developed for his companies, Independent Computer Services and Tritek Technologies. 

Over the past four decades, Jim has lead hundreds of employees and has developed Tritek into the leading-edge mail equipment supplier it is today. He has extensive hardware, software, and engineering experience and managed or designed all mechanical and electromechanical Tritek machinery. Jim holds dozens of patents, both in the USA and internationally, further demonstrating his commitment to developing new equipment and processes. 

Jim’s expertise and leadership have been recognized in many ways. He has served on the Delaware Business Advisory Counsel and represented the State of Delaware in Washington DC. Jim was awarded a US Special Merit award for personal achievement, which highlights his dedication and commitment to excellence.

Currently, Jim owns and operates four companies: Tritek Technologies, Inc., Independent Computer Services, Inc. Tritek Systems, Inc., and Vision 4 Music, Inc. He designed, developed, and patented all Tritek equipment.  With his passion for innovation and a proven track record of success, Jim is a prominent figure in the technology industry, and his contributions continue to make an impact on businesses and communities around the world.
